Two school boys caned by headmaster in his study

I have been reliably informed by Mr Farquhar that he had reason to punish you because you were a) late for assembly and b) you were caught smoking.

Both of which are very serious offences as you well know.

However, smoking is a particularly serious offence and I don't think Mr Farquhar gave you a sufficiently rigorous punishment.

So, it will stunt your growth and it's not good for you, not good for boys at all to be smoking.

So it is my unhappy duty to have to punish you further.
